Terms of Service

Program terms, responsibilities, and legal information for Home Solar Accelerator participants.

About the Home Solar Accelerator

The Home Solar Accelerator ("the Program") is operated by The Atmospheric Fund ("TAF"), a regional climate agency serving the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. The Program provides free, independent guidance to homeowners exploring rooftop solar energy.

Solar advisory services are delivered on TAF's behalf by Glean Energy Inc. ("Glean"), an independent energy advisory firm. The Program website is operated at solaraccelerator.ca ("the Website").

By using this Website or participating in the Program, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website or submit information through it.

What the Program Provides

The Home Solar Accelerator offers homeowners:

The Program is funded by TAF and provided at no cost to participating homeowners.

  • A personalized Solar Journey Report based on information you provide about your property.
  • Access to an independent Solar Advisor who can answer questions and explain options.
  • Vetted installer quotes structured for comparison.
  • General educational content about residential solar energy in Ontario.

What the Program Does Not Do

The Program does not install solar equipment, sell solar products, or supply any equipment or materials. TAF and Glean do not set installer pricing, negotiate contracts on your behalf, or act as parties to any agreement between you and an installer.

The Program does not provide professional financial, legal, engineering, or tax advice. The Solar Journey Report, advisor guidance, and all content on this Website are informational and educational in nature. They are not a substitute for professional consultation specific to your circumstances. You should consult qualified professionals for financial, legal, structural, or electrical decisions related to a solar installation.

Your Relationship with Installers

The Program connects you with pre-screened solar installers who meet quality, licensing, and conduct standards established by the Program. Inclusion in the installer network means an installer has met these standards at the time of vetting. It is not a guarantee of future performance, workmanship, or conduct.

Any contract you enter into with a solar installer is between you and that installer. TAF and Glean are not parties to that contract and bear no responsibility for the installer's work, pricing, timelines, warranties, or conduct. You are solely responsible for evaluating installer proposals, negotiating terms, and deciding whether to proceed with an installation.

No Guarantee of Outcomes

The Solar Journey Report and any estimates provided through the Program - including energy production projections, cost estimates, savings calculations, and payback periods - are based on the information available at the time and on general assumptions about equipment performance, weather, electricity rates, and incentive programs. These are estimates, not guarantees.

Actual results will vary based on your roof condition, shading, equipment selected, installation quality, weather patterns, electricity rate changes, government incentive changes, and other factors outside the Program's control. TAF and Glean do not guarantee any specific level of energy production, financial return, or cost savings.

Eligibility

The Program is currently available to homeowners of detached, semi-detached, and townhouse properties in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. Eligibility may change as the Program develops. TAF reserves the right to modify eligibility criteria at any time.

Information You Provide

When you use the intake form or communicate with a Solar Advisor, you provide information about yourself and your property. You are responsible for the accuracy of this information. Inaccurate or incomplete information may affect the quality of your Solar Journey Report and any advice you receive.

By submitting your information through the Website, you consent to TAF and Glean using it to deliver Program services to you, including preparing your Solar Journey Report, assigning a Solar Advisor, and requesting quotes from vetted installers on your behalf.

Your information will not be shared with installers without your knowledge. When the Program requests quotes on your behalf, relevant property information is shared with installers in the Program's vetted network. Your personal contact information is shared with installers only when you agree to receive their quotes.

For full details on how your information is collected, used, stored, and shared, see our Privacy Policy.

Partner Referrals

You may reach the Program through a referral from one of our partner organizations (utilities, municipalities, community groups, or other organizations). When you arrive through a partner referral, we may record the referral source for program measurement purposes. This information is used to understand how people find the Program and to report aggregate participation data to partners. Partners do not receive your personal information (such as your name, email, or specific address) unless you have provided it to them separately. TAF may share aggregated or anonymized program data with partners - including postal code areas, system sizes, battery adoption rates, and participation volumes - to support policy development and program planning. This data does not identify individual participants.

Intellectual Property

All content on this Website - including text, graphics, logos, images, and the Solar Journey Report format - is the property of TAF or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Partner organizations may use and adapt Program materials for non-commercial purposes related to promoting residential solar adoption, provided they credit The Atmospheric Fund. All other reproduction, distribution, or creation of derivative works from Website content requires written permission from TAF.

You may share Program materials (such as the Solar Journey Report provided to you) for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TAF, Glean, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from:

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory on which the claim is based, including negligence.

  • Your use of, or inability to use, the Website or Program services.
  • Any decision you make based on information provided through the Program.
  • The performance, conduct, or workmanship of any installer, whether or not that installer is part of the Program's vetted network.
  • The accuracy of estimates, projections, or calculations in your Solar Journey Report.
  • Any interruption, error, or delay in the Website or Program services.
  • Any loss of data you submit through the Website.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Website and Program services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. TAF and Glean make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the Website's availability, accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.

TAF does not warrant that the Website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TAF, Glean, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Website, your violation of these Terms, or your interactions with any installer. This does not apply to claims arising from TAF's or Glean's own negligence or wilful misconduct.

Program Changes and Termination

The Home Solar Accelerator is a funded program. TAF reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Program or any part of it at any time, with or without notice. TAF is not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Program.

Changes to These Terms

TAF may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes take effect when posted to this page. Your continued use of the Website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
